Aurora Light Pony Switch Review

There hasn’t been a lot on Switch to review lately(probably the flood will open once the Switch 2 drops), so I’ll do a review of Aurora Light Pony, another Aldora visual novel. Last week, Aldora spammed my article on them with six messages all from the same email and IP address out of Austria. You can see two of them here:

I want you to pay attention to the top one. It is obviously not a public school teacher and English doesn’t seem to be their first language. But it does give a clue into what Aldora is doing. They’re going after the kid market. Aurora Light Pony is a ripoff of My Little Pony. There’s this pony who hasn’t got her magic spots yet and the magic is fading from the valley she lives in. She and three friends go on a boring adventure to restore magic…

Aurora Light Pony

The writing in Aurora Light Pony isn’t terrible. They’ve been improving. I liked High School Love after all. The issue is the AI art, it screams cheap garbage. It drags down the narrative because the visuals don’t match the action often times. Visual novels work best when the art accentuates the writing. The art doesn’t here. Aldora really needs to make custom artwork if they want success. Considering they’re lashing out at me for the image below, its possible they’re in trouble.

I believe this is why they’re angry.

In the end, Aurora Light Pony is a cheap ripoff of a popular IP that has no identity of its own, in part because of that AI art. The writing is alright, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to give this anything other than a Not Recommended Verdict with a five back-end score. Aldora Games needs to try harder than ripping off a popular IP to scam kids. They can do better. They have done better! I don’t have a vendetta against them. I want Aldora Games to get with the program and produce good work, just like Max Interactive Studio eventually did. Instead of lashing out at me, they should look inward and improve.

Overall: Aurora Light Pony is Aldora Games ripping off My Little Pony. The writing is ok, but it has no soul at all.

Verdict: Not Recommended
